Let us find out whether the Galaxy Grand just looks like the S3 or does it even work and perform like the S3.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 on the other side also happens to be one of the coolest smartphones in the market. As said by the company this is a smartphone that has been ‘Inspired by Nature’ and ‘Designed for Humans’. It has a delicate and smooth finishing which makes the phone look really rich and unique. The Galaxy Grand also very much looks like the Galaxy S3. It has a very similar look and feel but the quality of material used is better on the S3.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 4.8-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 and a pixel density of 306 ppi. It also has Corning Gorilla Glass protection. The new Samsung Galaxy Grand has a 5-inch capacitive touchscreen. It has a display resolution of 480 x 800 pixels with a pixel density of 187 ppi. In spite of having a bigger screen, the Galaxy Grand has a lower resolution and lower pixel density as compared to the Galaxy S3.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 has the Exynos 4 chipset. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor, the Mali-400 GPU and a 2 GB RAM. The Samsung Galaxy Grand runs on a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor. It has a standard GPU and a 1 GB RAM. When it comes to hardware, the Galaxy Grand is no match for the Galaxy S3.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 comes with Android 4.0 Jelly Bean installed on it. This smartphone also has the Samsung TouchWiz UI which adds to the user experience and customization options. The Samsung Galaxy Grand runs on one of the latest version of the Android operating system. It runs on Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 provides in-built storage options of 16, 32 and 64 GB and also provide a micro SD card slot which supports cards of up to 64 GB. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Grand comes with a standard in-built storage space of 8 GB. It has a micro SD card support which using which you can extend the memory of your device by 64 GB. Hence this is one segment where the Galaxy S3 still rules the mobile market.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 has an 8 MP Primary Camera with autofocus and LED flash and a 1.9 MP Secondary Camera. The Samsung Galaxy Grand has an 8 MP Primary Camera with autofocus and LED flash. It has a 2 MP Secondary Camera. Hence when it comes to camera, both these smartphones are equal.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 has a 2100 mAh battery. It gives a talk time of up to 22 hours on 2G and 12 hours on 3G  The Samsung Galaxy Grand has a standard 2100 mAh Li-Ion battery. It is expected to give a talk time of about 6 to 8 hours and a stand by time of about 200 hours. One again, when it comes to battery capacity, both these smartphones are equal.


The dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy S3 are 136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 (mm). The dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Grand are 143.5 x 76.9 x 9.6 (mm). There is a difference of 1 mm between the thickness of these two devices.


The Samsung Galaxy S3 weighs about 133 grams whereas the Samsung Galaxy Grand has a weight of 162 grams. In spite of having almost the same size and dimensions, the Galaxy Grand is much heavier than the S3.


If you have been thinking that the Galaxy Grand is a good substitute for the Samsung Galaxy S3, then I think this is not the exact story. The Galaxy Grand does look like the S3, but the S3 has a much better hardware configuration, better display, provides higher in-built storage capacity and is much faster than the Galaxy Grand.

The Galaxy Grand is a 5-inch smartphone which will give you a very good user experience provided you are not expecting too much out of the device. This smartphone has a very good configuration compared to the market segment it has been targeted for.
